The Trip

This expedition is a once in a life time opportunity to witness the flying great white sharks of False Bay. Here, the winter dawn light reveals Cape fur seals traversing between Seal Island and their offshore foraging grounds. Great whites burst from the depths, attacking the seals in one of nature’s greatest displays of predatory prowess. After the days predations cease (circa 9.30am), we drop anchor, start the chum and enjoy up close and personal cage diving with the worlds coolest shark!

Itinerary

  • 06h45 – Meet and launch from Simon’s town harbour.
  • 07h20 to 10h00 – Arrive at Seal Island, spend the first two hours patrolling the Southern end of the island to view the flying great whites of False Bay hunting the Cape fur seal. Once attacks have slowed, a seal decoy will be towed to elicit breaching great whites for that million dollar photograph.
  • 10h00 to 12h30 – Boat anchors, chumming starts, cage lowered. It is time to don wetsuits for face to face meetings with the one and only, Great white shark! Between dives and photographs, knock down a few snacks before getting back into the action
  • 12:45 – Awed and amazed, spend the trip home bragging incessantly about your experience – no worries, you earned it!
